Reduce and Reuse

By now you would have noticed that during the 11+ preparation, kids would have written lot of  notes/ tips / creative writing exercises on loose sheets or on notebooks, soon this would overrun and would be very hard to manage, search and revisit. we got this Rocket Book as a gift, and I was initially reluctant to use it as I dint see a proper use case for it. During lockdown when I had to take hundreds of print outs a week I felt embarrassed to waste lot of paper and resources. First I though I could ask my kids to directly write it on the computer, later I realized that it could back fire as they might loose the writing speed / handwriting during the exam, also writing directly on the computer could strain their eyes and causes lot of distraction. So I decided to give this Rocket Book a try. I was blown away to see how it woks and kids were super excited as well. since then we have been using this every time.  You can but this on amazon https://amzn.to/2OVaCnj Disclosure: some of the

Year 4 Books for 11 Plus

The books  recommend  here are tried and tested by many parents and personal recommendation only. I am not a tutor or have any connection to these authors, but honestly recommending these just because it really helped us in our 11+ journey.  I have mentioned mixture of exam pattern books as I strongly believe we should worry less on the format of the questions at this stage, as the focus  having strong foundations and building the ability to handle any type of questions for this age. We have seen some schools changing the pattern last minute or introducing new subject that was not there in the past as a way to filter out excessive tutoring.  Disclosure : some of the links in this post are amazon affiliate links and We may receive a commission for purchases made through these links. When to start?

After you are done selecting your primary school for your kid, we suddenly wake up few years before a big milestone or when hearing the buzz words "Grammar Schools", "Catchment" , "11+" , "Mock test" Some of the parents would have a clear road map based on the past experience or from friends and family who had gone through the similar experience, luckily I was one such parent who was fortunate to be around friends who went thought this journey few years before my turn and they were vey kind enough to share some key insights involved in this whole 11+ journey. The day I came to know about this 11+ the very first question I asked the parents was  "when did you start the preparation? " Although this differs from a child to child I found a pattern that works with majority of the kids and parents. Remember, this is a journey and it is always a good idea to start light and slowly increase the speed and complexity. So, when is it? Year 3 Year
